Finished Pieces

Finishing

Beehive NeedleArts offers a variety of needlepoint finishing from many different specialty finishers all around the country. We finish needlepoint into pillows, ornaments, wall hangings, stand-up figures, belts, purses, pillows, kepahs, tallit bags, Christmas stockings, doorstops, and much more. We also block needlepoint pieces to make them suitable for framing or finishing. We suggest that you shop for fabric backing and trimmings your self so that you get exactly what you want. Or you may choose to let our finishers make finishing selections for your needlepoint piece.

For needlepoint belt finishing we have different finishing styles which impact the amount of design you should stitch. The general rule is that leather belt finishing adds 5 additional inches to the needlepoint belt. Please discuss with our staff the type of finishing you desire and we will be happy to help you figure out how much to stitch. Also if you would like a binding stitch edge to your belt, we will be happy to teach you this technique. We also can offer binding stitch services for a fee of $30.00

To place a finishing order, please bring your needlepoint to the shop. Our staff will fill out a finishing order and ask you many detailed questions — size, color, style, etc. Please ask to see our examples of various finishing methods. After we fill out your order, we will ask you to review the directions and sign. Your piece will then be sent out to the appropriate finisher for finishing.

Needlepoint pieces are generally finished from 6–14 weeks, although this can greatly vary depending upon the complexity of the project, time of year, and the backlog of orders. Some complex projects (such as a purse or a rug) can take 4–6 months! We will do our best to accommodate your needs depending upon the availability of our finishers. We publish our “deadlines” for finishing, in general they are as follows: Easter — February 15th, Halloween — August 15th, Thanksgiving — September 15th, Christmas/Hanukkah — October 1st

Every needlepoint piece is finished by hand by an expert. The fee is determined on an individual basis depending upon the complexity of the project. We will try to provide an accurate estimate when you drop off your piece, but this is only an estimate. We require a 50% deposit to secure finishing orders, and the balance is due when finished piece is picked up. All needlepoint finishing is nonrefundable.
